Vaness Wang: fine jewellery designer

One of my favourite things about living in Shanghai is getting a chance to have some notable conversations with people doing incredible things in the city. I had the opportunity to speak with Vanessa Wang, a jewellery designer, just to get to know a little more about her work.
在上海生活，我最喜欢的事情之一是能有机会与在这个城市中正在做一些不可思议的事情的人，进行一些有意义的谈话。因此，为了更了解珠宝设计师Vanessa Wang的工作，我和她进行了交谈。 After seeing some of her pieces, I thought about how I felt about my jewellery. You know, a part of me likes pieces that use the past, present inspiration. But I also want jewellery for a modern woman, because this is who I identify as nowadays!
看到她的一些作品后，我联想到了我自己对珠宝的感觉。我时常会喜欢一些饱含过去与现在的灵感的作品，但我也想要能体现出现代女性特质的珠宝，因为“现代女性”是我在当下想要被认定的身份。
So I think, as a modern woman today, I think I want to be able to put my jewellery on, go to work, head out to girl's night, go for dinner or a date, and have that kind of uniform of jewellery. But I also want my jewellery to be fine jewellery. I felt Vanessa Wang's pieces embody this sentiment. She creates jewellery for women to wear, the kind of pieces that give you an experience when you wear them. The type of jewellery that makes a snapshot of that moment in time.
所以我认为，作为一名生活在今日的现代女性，我希望我能戴上属于我的珠宝，去上班，去参加女孩之夜，去吃饭或约会，同时拥有这一系列风格统一的珠宝。但我也希望我的珠宝是精致的。Vanessa Wang的作品正是体现了这种情感。她为女性创造了可以佩戴的珠宝，这种珠宝在你佩戴时给你带来一种体验。当你佩戴上它们的那一瞬间，你感受到时间凝结在你身上。
I have a lot of feelings about her jewellery, but I also wanted to hear from her about her experiences.

I know being a jewellery designer is a lot of work, how did you get into something like this? What inspired you to start your brand?
When I graduated, it was with a fashion design major. I have always loved handmade crafts, so I always buy a special piece that serves as a memory of the place every time I travel. I also wanted to create something that serves as a memory of an experience. In 2018, I founded the brand VANNESS WANG Fine Jewelry. This is a sustainable brand. It uses natural organic gems and pearls. These have classic aesthetics using modern design concepts combined with traditional technology through jewellery transmission elegant self-confidence, independent and free life concept shape light luxury independent style, interpretation of personalized jewellery.
我毕业于服装设计专业 对手工制作工艺十分热爱 每次旅行的时候都会买一些很特别的首饰 也希望自己能创造出可以带给大家留有美好记忆的作品于2018年创立了品牌VANNESS WANG Fine Jewelry 主要运用天然有机宝石、珍珠以经典美学现代的设计理念结合传统的工艺 通过珠宝传递优雅自信，独立自由的生活理念 塑造轻奢独立⻛格，演绎个性首饰。
Where do you draw your inspiration/ creativity from?
Art Deco series, especially the beautiful lines of nature, the geometric elements in the building. I am also inspired by the beautiful women and the energy given out towards life. I hope our jewellery can bring out more self-confidence and charm embodied in women.

What does a work day look like for you?
Typically it consists of an addition to new product development and production plant communication and coordination but also shooting each series of Lookbook

What's your favourite piece from the current collection, and how are you wearing it?
My favorite is the baroque series of basic models. This product is also a bestseller. It doesn't have age restrictions, can wear to formal occasions, and still highlights the beauty of women's aura. It is very fashionable and special indeed.
