Sustainable Fashion: PANGAIA
Last week, I had the opportunity to go to an event at Lane Crawford that showcased the brand Pangaia. See, I am really new to this fashion blogging stuff, and this was quite a new brand for me to experience. After talking to one of the event organisers, it was more apparent that it is a sustainable brand. Still, for once, I actually got to understand how sustainable this brand actually is.

Pangaia's primary focus is wardrobe essentials designed for everyday needs. The brand's home page reflects the unpretentiousness and minimalism to which it strives: the colour scheme is basic, the colours combine well together, and the number of components is also appropriate, enhancing visual coherence. Sweatsuits have undergone the ultimate rebrand. Long gone are the days of baggy polyester sacks reserved for a wintery commute to the gym, one's Jazzercise apparel covertly tucked beneath. Like so much in the apparel industry, sweats have changed — and so have the circumstances in which it's permissible to wear them.

For nearly two years, "loungewear," as per contemporary terminology, has served as a sort of pandemic uniform, with labels building entire consumer bases over plush, fuzzy cotton. That's certainly been the case for Pangaia. On its face, Pangaia's sweats are not entirely dissimilar from the bevvy of alternatives already on the market. The range comes in a mélange of appetising colours, like Flamingo Pink and Saffron Yellow, with a slick silhouette those in the know recognise from the pixels of Instagram.
