Y2K Fashion Comebacks

It’s 2006, Rock this party by Bob Sinclair is blasting on the radio, you are going through the pictures in people magazine, cutting some out for your notebook, life is good! If you peeked in the 2000’s (can’t relate), that era is back and your time to shine is now! We have made a small list of some of the noughties trends we have seen make a comeback!

Wide Leg Jeans

So, it seems skinny jeans aren't much of a thing anymore, and there's a new cut in town. The early 2020s have seen a resurgence of the late 80s, early 90s mom jeans, except the newer model is more stylish and more wearable, for lack of a better term. Wide leg jeans now have a slim, straight silhouette and are similar to mom jeans in that they're made from real denim rather than stretchy jegging style fabrics. They can have a low, mid or high rise and are incredibly versatile and easy to style. As such, they provide a timeless casual look that anyone can pull off.

Velour Tracksuits

The image of Paris Hilton in that velour tracksuit lives rent-free in our heads. We all wanted this tracksuit at some point, probably owned one, and then the trend eventually faded. Come 2020, probably out of necessity, velour tracksuits made a comeback! I mean, considering no one was really about to put on jeans or hard material just to spend the day at home when you can wear some comfy chic loungewear. . It's both comfortable and practical. Still, it can actually be worn while hanging out at home or heading out into the world. As long as your accessories are on point, it will be clear that the look is intentional.

Fuzzy Materials

The trend has expanded to include a wide range of fluffy, furry, and fuzzy materials that we last saw on T-shirts and cardigans in the early 00s. Be a teddy bear coat, fuzzy slides or furry hats, celebrities and everyday fashionistas embrace this cosy trend. While the look works best for fall and winter, it can also be adapted for lightweight summer materials.

At some point, wearing colourful plastic butterfly clips was fashion, and believe it or not, they are making a comeback along with several other playful hair accessories. This preppy look has now gone full high fashion. Celebrities, influencers, and social media stars have been seen styling these accessories. If we ever longed for an affordable trend, this is the one!

Bucket Hats

Bucket hats were seen on celebrities and everyday people in the late 90s and early 2000s. In the early 2020s, we have been noticing them reappearing. On runways and on our favourite style influencers, including models Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, while they definitely skew casual, they can also be dressed up for a more high fashion look. They are available in a wide range of materials, from leather to faux fur to corduroy. And along with being stylish, they also provide sun protection so your skin will thank you.
